Elves

Elves are sometimes associated with Fairies but they are a bit different, though still related to their cousins. For one, they are rarely as mischievous and are much calmer as a race. Zen aptly applies to this race of beings. They, like humans, vary in appearances and type. Where humans on Earth have quite a few variations of human "races," elves are similar in that respect. But in general, they have long elongated pointed ears and tend to be lithe beings that vary in height and appearance depending on type.

One type of elves is very similar in appearance to Chinese/Japanese people. (I mean no disrespect to these respective human races, as I know there are differences in appearance and genetics. But these elves, have features of both and their language is a combination of Chinese and Japanese [particular older forms of these two languages]). They are perhaps the most Zen of the elven race and could be even called Zen Elves. They live in a large group/clan and are led by a king and queen.

Another type is that of the miniature elves. Perhaps these would be confused with gnomes or brownies, or the elves that help Santa Claus. This really isn't the case though. Gnomes are quite a different race. This race is just much shorter in stature than other races, even shorter than a "full-grown" sized pixie in some cases. Mini-elves are capable of changing their sizes, just like pixies can. They do not get as small as pixies, however, and probably look like small children even when adults. Miniature elves also tend to be more mischievous than the previously mentioned clan of elves.

These are the only two types specifically that we've come across. We do trust there are more types; for instance, the different types of elves you'd find in Lord of the Rings. We have yet to come across any other possible elven types, yet.

Healers

Elves are the supreme healers of the races of Man. Their healing is associated with the element Fire. All elves that we have come across are linked to fire and use it in their magic and healing. They use fire to burn through the metaphysical systems on their patient, destroying illness and cauterizing wounds. Any impurity in the system will be burned or taken into the elf's own body to be burned with their internal fire. Then the energy will be grounded or returned to the patient.

Elves will often use chanting to facilitate their healing processes. It helps them focus and move the energy more smoothly. It also calms the patient down as well, soothing them. This is another advantage Elves have in the healing realm. Their aura projects a calming environment that will mellow out other around them. It keeps their patients calm during painful healings and surgeries. It also makes Elves great diplomats.

I hinted that Elves have an internal fire to them. This fire has been described to me as being within their blood. It is their immune system, in a way. Elves tend to be faster healers from illness than other races. Honestly, in most cases they rarely become sick anyway, because of their natural healing. Even when physically or metaphysically wounded Elves are fast at healing and generally don't often have scars. Meditation practices are often used by a wounded or sick elf to cure and heal themselves so they don't have to spend much time convalescing.

Warriors

They tend to be much more pacifistic than some races, partially due to their healing skills, but they are very skilled warriors at the same time. They can be quite dangerous to come up against. Many elves choose long-distance fighting with bows and arrows, but others prefer closer combat. They will probably have a fair amount of martial arts skills as well.

In many cases, an elf will choose one of a few paths; healer, diplomat, or warrior. Some will take multiple routes as healer and sometimes warrior or healer and diplomat. Each elf will have skills in healing but may only focus those healing skills on themselves rather than others and act as warriors for their clan. Others will solely act as a healer for others or act as both healer and diplomat.

Temperament

They will make friends and allies with others before going to war. They have a high tolerance for other people though, even pixies, because of their Zen practices. They are very close with nature and certain other races of Man that typically remain in the metaphysical plane and within other planes. They tend to have a close relationship with Naga because of a long-time alliance with them.

Aging

They don't often incarnate into physical bodies. They can live very long lives, and in some ways could be considered the immortals of the races of Mankind. They age slower, but are more mature to begin with. They are susceptible to death and being killed, but given no untimely accidents, they will live hundreds or thousands of years. They tend to start to grow a bit senile with age, but they handle it much better than other races that try evading the cycle of reincarnation. Elves are able to live without reincarnating, provided being full elf. Half-elves tend to age quicker and will die of old age more quickly and thus will reincarnate with greater frequency.

Relationships

Elves in their youth tend to court multiple mates for a while, but when they find love, they settle down and don't often look for it in any one else, though they will still recognize multiple soul mates. They will only court or mate with one at a time, perhaps, due to the long lives, and may switch between lovers after a long span of time much like angels do.

When they marry, they have elaborate ceremonies, particularly for their royal family. If marrying outside of their race, males will often challenge the perspective husband to ensure he is fit to be a part of their clan of elves. This may be the same case for females as well (though I haven't heard of it particularly). There may be times when an individual elf has courted more than one elf at a time and in these times there may be additional challenges to see who the best mate will be be.
